Gelynion/Enemies

I was honoured to be invited by Poetry Wales editor and co-curator of Gelynion/Enemies, Nia Davies, to be part of the Bangor event. The Enemies Project is the brainchild of Steven J Fowler, a talented and prolific poet who is also one of the loveliest people I’ve met in the poetry world.

I’ve never collaborated with another writer before but being paired with poet Fiona Cameron was a definite highlight (thank you Nia). In this context the name of the project, Enemies, began to make sense, in that, it’s about encouraging people to step out of their artistic comfort zones, make friends and experiment. This project led to us creating a collaborative piece we’re both pleased with (below); it needs work, but we’ll stick with it and see where this idea takes us.

Of the Gelynion/Enemies there are so many interesting collaborations I could post here but Zoë Skoulding performing with Steven J Fowler in Cardiff is pretty spectacular.

Before beginning writing I scoured through the Enemies website to see what other writers got up to. I found some real gems but this collaboration between McGillivray & Andrew Blair is a clear favourite so far:
